I haven't posted about my life in awhile. Let's see...
I've been pretty spacey lately. I know I'm usually kinda spacey, but I figure it's gotta be bad when three of your close friends make the effort to point it out to you. >____>;;
I've been keeping busy. I've been seeing people, working on some personal projects, and sewing a lot. Oh, and researching random subjects for fun! Like the Vietnam War, cashews, NASA's recruitment drives in the 1970s, Canadian immigration law, etc. ...though whether or not I've retained anything is another story all together. XD
I have been job searching. I've had some nibbles so it hasn't been horrible. Thanks to help from some good friends and some practical experience, I'm getting pretty familiar with cover letters, resumes, and interviews. In the process, I've been learning a bit more about myself as well.
I am starting an internship with a Canadian publisher in January. It'll be neat to see how that develops. :3
Last month I went to a Trans-Siberian Orchestra concert with Sakura and Derek. (Amanda is with us in spirit!) We had a great time, though, personally, the show could've used more lasers. XD (That was sarcasm, BTW. The show was, like, a constant barrage of lasers. XD)
During her undergrad, my friend Miaka was involved in lots of HIV/AIDS activism. Recently, she's been asked to give presentations on her activism. In the last few weeks, I've attended two lectures/events at which she's presented. Two things: 1) She downplays them, but no matter what she tells you, her credentials are freaking amazing. I've been forced to realize how little I really known about all the work she does. It's time for me to step up. 2) She reminds me how a few individuals can change their corner of the world for the better. Go, Miaka, go! :D
Last Sunday, I went to a Mew concert with Jen. They were soooo good~ Mew's music is very beautiful and melodic, so there were many times during the concert I found myself closing my eyes and letting the music overtake me. The opening band, a local band called The D'Urbervilles, were also phenomenal.
A few weeks ago, Operation Beautiful posted some of my post-its. Now with bonus Becky! X3
I was browsing DeviantArt the other day when I came across a Tai (Digimon) cosplayer. I was going through her gallery when I happened to stumble onto this link and it left me totally speechless. twinfools is a phenominal cosplayer, and to think I inspired her... Wow. I don't even know what I could possibly say to that. ♥

Newsweek has a feature on old Star Trek conventions, complete with old photos and commentary. I find the history of these conventions neat since if it wasn't for these cons, we probably wouldn't have cons like we do today. I also like things like this because I really like pre-internet photos of costumes. :3
A few months ago, I had an idea for a Pinto fic, but for the life of me, I couldn't seem to write it myself. I ended up posting the idea as a prompt on the RPF kink meme and the lovely bootson filled it! So... here's a rec: The Real Life of Jack Christian (Chris Pine/Zachary Quinto | NSFW) by bootson. This fic is so wonderful that I can't even find the words to describe it properly. It's better than anything I could've ever come up with and it makes me so incredibly happy~ ♥
And because crack is amazing and breaks brains: Bones/Lady Gaga fic (NSFW). (Also see this thread.) If Kirk/Lady Gaga is more you're thing, I suggest watching the TOS episode "The Gamestrers of Triskelion" -- the episode in which Captain Kirk hits on Lady Gaga. I'm serious. XD
FYI: Mighty Morphin Power Rangers is being re-released in the New Year. The first episodes start airing at the beginning fo January. While I think this is pretty cool, I also recognize that this is mostly a ploy to make money off the franchise. (The current season, RPM, is the last Power Rangers season and there are only four episodes left.) There are some questions about the series being edited and about how much of the original music, etc. is being kept. They are also releasing MMPR toys.
Also, in Power Ranger news, Power Morphicon finally has details up. As fun as it would be to go to a Power Rangers con, I doubt I'll be able to go. D:
Relatedly and randomly, Dan Ewing replied to me on Twitter (read from bottom to top), much to the amusement and mortification of everyone involved. I can't stop shaking my head at this, because it's ridiculous and hilarious, and also so... not PC. For the record, Mr. Ewing, Spencer would date a Jedi vampire!
In other news, DTAC is on Sunday. Should Gengar attend wrapped in Christmas lights? YES/VERY YES? XD |
